My daughter is suffering from endometriosis and I did her treatments in Rourkela but they were not successful. I contacted Dr Rooma Sinha and she was my last hope. I was so worried because my daughter's condition was worsening day by day. No medicines and injections were working on her. But then Dr Rooma Sinha called us and went to Hyderabad. There, she went through all her past medical records and then examined her thoroughly. She did one MRI and then saw the CD and provided her with her effective medicines seeing her condition. Beside all this her behaviour is very heart warming. She is very simple, sophisticated, well mannered and cultured lady. She is very friendly and caring in nature. I've made the best decision by visiting her and did my child's treatment there. Thank you madam 🙏 I will request everyone that if anyone is suffering from any kind of gynaecological disease, please contact her.

Dr. Rooma Sinha is one of the best doctors I've met till date. She is extremely compassionate, loving, kind-hearted and down to earth. I'm an endometriosis patient from Odisha. I did my treatment but they were not successful. I contacted her when I was in excess pain. Despite being so busy, she texted me the medicine and told me to reach her asap. The way she calmed me down and examined my medical documents each and every one deeply and identified my case. She assured me that I'll be fine. The way she communicated with me was so relaxing. She is very simple and very easy going person. Basically she is a God for me. Thanks to her for providing me with suitable medicines and saving my life. 🙏🏻🙏🏻 I am also requesting everyone, whosoever is suffering from any type of gynaecological disease plz contact her.

One of my life's best decisions was to choose Dr. Rooma Sinha for robotic myomectomy. I was looking for India's top doctors for this procedure. My online research showed that she isn't just the most experienced doctor for this, but also a pioneer of the field, teaching other doctors and advancing treatments. I learned that, because of her busy schedule, she isn't able to spare time for online appointments. However, as I was based in Jaipur, I requested her for an online consultation, before I took the decision and traveled to Hyderabad. Fortunately, she made herself available. As we spoke, I was pleasantly surprised to notice that she was well versed with my case as she had taken the time to go through my reports. She was unbelievably clear about what needs to be done and why. I was thoroughly impressed. However, what stood out was her compassion. Her words - 'don't worry, we are there with you' - convinced me that she would actually care for me. Soon after, I reserved a date for the procedure and finalized my plans for Hyderabad. Upon reaching there, I met her in-person. She thoroughly examined me, reviewed all the reports, and explained each step of the process. My husband had over 20 questions, and she patiently and smilingly answered each of those, despite a long queue of patients outside who had come to her from all over the world. Her system in Apollo Banjara Hills is like a well oiled machinery, where every member of her team - Sravanthi, Dr. Rupa, Dr. Moumita, and others - exactly knows what to do, when, and how. The process is seamless! A night before the surgery, I was anxious and had more questions. I messaged her, and she answered even those. Very few senior doctors actually spare time for such queries. I knew I was under the right hands. On the day of the procedure, she herself smilingly came to take me to the OT and calmed me down. When I woke up, the process was done. My husband tells me that she came to see him after the procedure was successfully done. She, in fact, asked him whether he needs a coffee to now finally relax. During my post-op recovery, she regularly came to see me. And in addition to her visits, her team members - especially Dr. Moumita and another colleague of hers - came to check on me. 24 hours after the surgery, I was moving around, eating regular food, and going to the restroom myself. There was no surgery related pain; it was just some gastrointestinal discomfort which is common after surgery and was subsiding with each passing day. Five days after the procedure, I received a call from her office that she wanted to see him. She re-examined my incisions, asked how I was doing, and suggested how I should approach recovery. This was a first for me wherein the doctor herself was following up with the patient. As I was traveling back to Jaipur, she further connected me to a student of hers - another practicing doctor in Jaipur - whom I could connect with in case of any other issues that require in-person visit. This whole experience has led me to unhesitatingly choose Dr. Rooma Sinha as my lifelong gynecologist! I am grateful to have found her. A special mention for her assistant Sravanthi ji who is the most compassionate and professional medical support person I have met. She just made my life unbelievably easy before, during, and after the procedure. A big thank you to Dr. Sinha and her entire team.

Dr. Rooma Sinha is the Fellowship Director for teaching postgraduate students both laparoscopy and Robotic surgery at Apollo Hospital, Hyderabad. This is a highly sought after multidisciplinary program. She is an Honorary Professor Apollo Hospital and Associate Professor at Macquarie University, Sydney Australia.
We have a come a long since anesthesia and antisepsis were introduced in modern surgery. With safe anesthesia and appropriate antibiotics and sterile techniques to prevent surgical site infections, the sky was the limit in treating diseases surgically. The next step was to improve the quality of life of these ever-busy women with quick recovery and less pain who were undergoing gynecological surgeries. Introduction of keyhole surgery (laparoscopic surgery) aimed to achieve this goal. It did succeed, however is not universally offered to all women who needed gynecological surgery. The question is why laparoscopic hysterectomy or myomectomy has not become a standard operative modality as laparoscopic cholecystectomy has? This is so because these are more complex surgeries and not always possible with straight stick laparoscopic instruments.
There are 4 distinct differences that the robotic surgery has as compared to conventional laparoscopy.
- Stereoscopic 3D 10 times magnified vision- which is focused and provided excellent vision of the area the surgeon is operating
- Near control of Surgical field where the surgeon controls the camera movement giving her a steady vision of the operating field. Also she is able to use three instruments to operate giving her flexibility.
- Intuitive movements are movements that makes the instruments move in the same direction as the hands during surgery as compared to counter intuitive movements in conventional laparoscopy
- THE WRIST-is the Missing Link! No surgical instrument till date gives a human wrist like movements while doing surgery. Robotic instruments helps one perform surgery just like the movements of human hand during an open surgery but without a big scar providing utmost precision in surgery and quick recovery.
The advantages of da Vinci SI Robotic Surgical Intervention
- Less Scarring- Due to precise movement, tissue trauma is less.
- Minimal Blood Loss- With better dissection in the right planes and the ability to suture more quickly, there is significantly less blood loss.
- Faster recovery- Patients are able to resume their normal activities within few days and often are fit to travel in a week. Unlike 6 weeks needed to recover after open surgery. Many patients go home on the same day as well.
- Excellent suturing- Precise instrumentation with wrist like movements and 3D visualization enables the surgeon to suture the uterus appropriately.
- Less post-operative pain- Experience faster healing with less pain.
- Less conversion to open surgery during the procedure
Contrary to the myth regarding robotic surgery, it is the surgeon and her surgical skill that determines the outcome of the surgery and not the ROBOT as it cannot do anything on its own. We are one of the pioneer centers in Gynecological robotic surgery with the maximum number of Robot assisted Myomectomy & Endometriosis surgeries performed by a single surgeon in the whole country. We have many success stories of women conceiving and delivering after these robotic assisted surgeries as well as improving their quality of life at Apollo Hospital, Hyderabad India.
When does Robotic surgery score over conventional laparoscopic surgery in women?
- MYOMECTOMY- large & Multiple (Fertility enhancing sugeries)
- ENDOMETRIOSIS- Grade 3&4 for clearance to provide relief of pain or fertility enhancement
- DEEP INFILTRATING ENDOMETRIOSIS
- CANCER OF ENDOMETRIUM
- SACROCOLPOPEXY
- URINARY FISTULA REPAIR- Vesico vaginal or Ureterovaginal
RELATIVE INDICATIONS
- Complex and difficult hysterectomy
- Morbidly obese woman needing gynecological surgery- reduces conversion to open surgery; less morbidity and hospital stay
- Women with multiple surgeries done in the past
